We offer a wide range of public health services through partnerships with the county, state, and federal agencies. Check out some of the services we offer.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #333333; font-size: 24px;\"><br \/>\n Health Surveillance<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Vital Statistics<\/strong><\/span>: Monitoring death certificates for unusual patterns of mortality.<br \/>\n <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Communicable Disease Investigation and Reporting<\/strong><\/span>: Investigate cases of disease, follows the incidence of cases of infectious disease and identify contacts to protect the community from outbreaks and spread disease.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #333333; font-size: 24px;\"><br \/>\n Health Protection<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Drinking Water Monitoring<\/strong><\/span>: To identify bacterial and chemical contamination of wells, before people in the community are made ill. Water Well Testing for residential and Businesses.<br \/>\n <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Food Sanitation<\/strong><\/span>: Inspecting restaurants to prevent poor food handling practices that could spread hepatitis and food poisoning. Food Permit, Food Safety Day.<br \/>\n <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Sewage Treatment<\/strong><\/span>: Permitting construction and maintenance of on-site sewage treatment systems in a manner to prevent disease spread by improperly treated sewage. <a href=\"#\">You must follow these procedures to get a Septic Permit<\/a>. The health department has been working in constructed wetlands as a green alternative to conventional septic systems.<br \/>\n <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Environmental Health<\/strong><\/span>: To evaluate and maintain a healthy environment to reduce health risks, including complaints regarding garbage and trash accumulation, open burning; failing septic system, illegal dumping, etc.<br \/>\n <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Animal and Vector Control<\/strong><\/span>: Identify and reduce the risk to the community from insects (mosquito, ticks) and animal (rats, horses, dog, bats) related diseases such as West Nile, rabies, equine encephalitis, Lyme disease and Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever.<br \/>\n <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Monitoring and Inspect Public Swimming Areas and Pools<\/strong><\/span>: To identify conditions which will promote disease.<br \/>\n <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Housing Sanitation and Safety<\/strong><\/span>: To assure housing, mobile home parks, campgrounds, labor camps, school, day care centers and mass gatherings are maintained and operated in a manner that will minimize disease transmission and injury.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #333333; font-size: 24px;\"><br \/>\n Preventative Services<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Immunization Clinics<\/strong><\/span>:\u00a0Walk-in clinics operate on a first come first served basis. They are limited to the number of children that can be served by the available nursing staff. For more information on clinic hours, <a href=\"#\">click here<\/a>.<br \/>\n <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Water Well Testing &amp; Groundwater Program<\/strong><\/span>:\u00a0The LaGrange County Health Department has free sample bottles to test drinking water wells. For more information, <a href=\"#\">click here<\/a>.<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong><br \/>\n <\/strong><strong>Food Safety Day<\/strong><\/span>: A two-hour curriculum to educate you in food safety and make you aware of safe food handling procedures for food retail and foodservice establishment.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #333333; font-size: 24px;\"><br \/>\n Public Records<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Birth Certificate and Death Records<\/strong><\/span>: Indiana began keeping birth and death records in 1882.
