A Report to the Community regarding the health department delivering on all of the ten essential services of public health. These services are: monitoring health, diagnosing and investigating health hazards, informing and educating about health issues, mobilizing partnerships, developing health policies, enforcing environmental laws, access to care, assuring a competent public health workforce, evaluating health services, and researching public health concerns.

Effective planning and decision-making for improving the health of a community requires good information about the current health status and factors that will influence that health status.
The Marion County Public Health Department, the Community Health Assessment Steering Committee and many local partners released a community health assessment in 2014. This report describes the health status of Marion County residents using six specific age groups and identified key health issues using accepted, pre-set criteria.
